Over 40 years experience in serving Manitoba

Unmatchable Experience & Service

For over 40 years, the Unger family has served Manitobans for their window dressing needs. Started in 1974 by Henry & Margaret Unger as Margaret's Draperies. Over the years, it grew from being a small business attached to their home to Manitoba's largest Hunter Douglas dealer and in 2017 became a Hunter Douglas Gallery™ store, the highest achievement attainable.

Randy Unger

I’m Randy, the owner, operator and lead installer.  I moved home from working on the oil patch in 1989 with my wife Heather to raise our family and to take over the business (then Margaret’s Draperies) from my parents, Margaret & Henry Unger.

Over the past 30+ years, the window covering world has experienced lots of changes and we pride ourselves in being the leaders in our Province in Motorization and general product knowledge.

Outside of the office, I enjoy travelling with friends and family and I spend most summer weekends at our family cabin fusing over my grass or on various home improvement projects that are a constant in my “Lake Life". I get my competitive fix by beating my friends or sons on the golf course!

Heather Unger

Hi! I’m Heather, the owner and head of sales & marketing at Advance Blinds & Drapery. In 1989 with my husband Randy, we moved home from Estevan to work alongside and take over the business from my in-laws Henry & Margaret Unger.

When I’m not at work, I belong to organizations that promote & enhance our small-town life. I spend my summers relaxing at the cabin with friends and family.

I have a passion for design & Randy has a talent for carpentry. Together we have designed multiple homes for ourselves & tackled many remodel projects from residential to commercial in Plum Coulee.

Blaine Unger

Hi! I’m Blaine. I handle various roles within our business, including installation, sales, social media and marketing. I’ve worked at Advance Blinds & Drapery in various roles for my entire life, starting full time in 2016.

One of my favourite products at work is Automated Shades.  Automated Shades keep the young, “techy” in me intrigued. With constant changes coming to the window covering world, there is no shortage of new and exciting technology to learn about.

When I’m not at work, I enjoy travelling and have been fortunate enough to visit many beautiful countries around the world. In the summer months, you can find me on the local golf courses or hanging out in the sun with friends. In the winter I spend my time curling, playing hockey or passionately cheering on my Habs.

Lisa Dyck

Hi! My name is Lisa Dyck. I am the professional seamstress at Advance Blinds & Drapery. I have worked in this sewing room since 2017, creating drapery that fits the need and style of each individual customer!

I believe adding curtains to a home can soften and personalize a house in a comforting way. Drapery is definitely one of my favourite things our company has to offer to our clients.

Outside of my job I enjoy playing volleyball, arranging wildflower bouquets and having a good cup of coffee with a friend.  Due to my Mennonite heritage, conversations may also run in Low German, High German or a mix of all three. Some jests are just better in a different language! 🙂
